Night Cat 27 Specifications

The 27-foot interceptor utilizes a proven Twin-V hull design. In 1997, the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWC-CD) evaluated IBC’s Twin-V hull design via an in-water test of a 27-foot Twin-V boat against a conventional Deep-V (Series 62 form-factor) hull of like size and displacement. In their report, CRDKNSWC-TM-20-97-41 Oct 1997, Carderock concluded that the Twin-V boat “…exhibits significantly superior sea keeping characteristics (up to 50% less accelerations in some cases) when compared to present inventory craft as used by U.S customs.”

The report also noted that the IBC Twin-V design “…can sustain higher speeds in a given sea state with lower accelerations than present inventory craft” and that the Twin-V
“…outperforms other craft up to 150%.”
